Kenya fullback Anthony ‘AJO’ Odhiambo and this season’s two test blindside winger Bill Omondi are back in the run-on squad for Resolution Impala Saracens’ trip to The Forest against Kabras Sugar Rugby Club.
”The two are fully fit and will add firepower to the squad that is coming along fine,” says Mitch Ocholla, head coach of the Kenyan Sarries. “Kabras typically threaten with their big forwards before releasing their backs. Our forwards expect a big action day”
Otherwise, tight lock Davis Makori, who’s been a dominant ball carrier for the Resolution Insurance backed side, is unavailable to travel due to work commitments. He is replaced by veteran Impala tight lock, Paul Oimbo.
Omondi comes in for Douglas Ochako who has been in sizzling form, last two matches. Ochako will be reinforcement on the wood. AJO comes in for Mark Kwemoi who was also in good shape last weekend versus Blak Blad. Kwemoi starts in the same position in the 2.00pm fixture.
“The competition is intense and the changes really are tactical, rather than a loss of form,”. says Ocholla. “We need everyone ready for whichever assignment the Club offers every weekend”
In other changes on the bench, Franz Obudo replaces Soita Wekesa, while veteran Joshua Momanyi replaces Kenya reserve tighthead Ian Masheti. Wekesa’s is a tactical change that sees him start loosehead at 2.00pm while Masheti has a niggling ankle injury that is under care.
Carlwilliam Odhiambo, due to debut for the Ngong Road team, replaces veteran Duncan Ekasi who’s away at work. Former Swara scrum half Sammy Kimakwa replaces the former Kenya Under 20 captain Xavier Kipng’etich who starts at 2.00pm.
George Okowa comes for the promoted Omondi as reserve back while Ochako is in for David Moenga who starts at the blindside.
The Red Shirts lie (2nd) on the Kenya Cup log and are already in Kakamega for tomorrow’s fixture.
