There was a total of nine tries scored in the semi-final thriller between USIU and Strathmore as the latter won 40-27 to earn qualification into the final where they are set to play against University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine.
Strathmore scored twenty three second half points compared to USIU’s ten to win the highly entertaining contest which was tied at 17-17 during the halftime break. Strathmore trio Clinton Imbuye, Bethuel Anami and Gabriel Adero (twice) were back on the score sheet following their quarter final tryscoring exploits against TUK to aid their side against USIU, whose comeback proved futile despite scoring twice in the final ten minutes after both sides had been reduced to fourteen players each.
For Strathmore, the forward trio of Imbuye, Anami and Adero were joined on the try scorers list by centre Richard Omodo and winger Matthew Magaya with scrumhalf Muita Arnold’s boot contributing ten points to the win while USIU’s points were scored by Joseph Kagimu, Tomby Fidel, Phillip Wafula and Godfrey Habana, each of whom touched down once with centre Martin Juma adding seven more points through his boot.
