The Impala Saracens Women’s team lost to Nakuru RFC in the KRU Women’s Festival Final earlier on today. Before reaching the final, the team won 10-5 against Northern Suburbs & received a walk-over over a no-show BladBabes outfit. They registered a shock 7-5 win against Homeboyz in the semis.
The hosts managed to keep the try-line sterile in the first half even though Daisy Achieng was shown yellow for dangerous play. Just as she was cleared to get back to the turf in the second half, her teammate Elizabeth Wekesa was shown yellow for breaking the law in contact. Nakuru’s Freshia Awino took advantage of this to score at the corner. The attempted conversion flew short. Impala could have leveled the match at the 10th minute and pushed it to extra time, but Achieng lost the ball forward with only 2 metres left to the try line.
