Mose, Adongo and Mwangi called up to Vodacom Squad…
Impala Saracens vice-captain and fullback Vincent Mose, winger Leon Adongo and tighthead prop Duncan “Share5” Mwangi are in the 40-man squad that prepares for the Vodacom Cup challenge starting March 8th. Head coach Jerome Paarwater left out Duncan Ekasi, Davis Makori, Nato Simiyu, Anthony Nyandigisi and Lameck Dunde, after his trials last weekend.
Mwangi has been at the heart of dominant Tight Five scrummagers all season. The tight grafters include Kelvins Karani, Ezekiel Chege and Robert Kweya in the front row while the locks have been Makori, Paul Oimbo and young Simon Muniafu, freshly from St. Mary’s School. “Share5”, an Egerton University alumnus, has made his mark after relocating to Ngong Road from Nakuru RFC.
Mose, a regular Kenya XVs fullback, when available, returns to the team to offer his 30 cap experience. The running fullback was unavailable for Windhoek Lager Tri Nations in Namibia last November due to occupational assignments. “We expect the South African sides to be as physical as usual. We must rely on our strengths which mainly is pace though we feed off good front foot ball.
“We must raise our execution and attention to detail. We have just four weeks to conclude our preparations. We need to ensure that we play each entire game because we only played to our capacity only one half each versus Zimbabwe and Namibia. These matches will be very challenging physically and we need to ensure that our default setting after minute 60 has few errors”
Adongo returns to the Kenya XVs setting after a long term injury (ankle fracture) that has kept him out of action for 6 months. He got injured at last year’s high performance camp at Cape Town during a training session. He missed out on the Safaricom Sevens Series and is yet to turn out for Impala Saracens in the Kenya Cup season.
Club chairman, Oduor Gangla congratulated the trio saying: “We wish them all the best in the upcoming fixtures that are sure to be bruising. Here, it is our policy never to stand in the way of any international call-ups, once they are done procedurally. We think that the call ups open up opportunity for rising stars and when they are back, it increases competition for Impala shirts which can only be good”
